On Monday, June 21, 2021, activities of the medical and awareness open-days, organized by Terre Des Hommes and generously funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic - Embassy of the Czech Republic in Jordan, began in the centre of the organization’s local partner Soldier's Family Welfare Society (SFWS).
The medical and awareness open-days are organized under the framework of the project improving access to primary health care Syrian refugees and Jordanians in the host community in Zarqa Governorate, funded by the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs within the project "Sehtak Mustaqbalak".
The Country Representative of Terre des Hommes Italy in Jordan, Ms. Deborah Da Boit, said that through the medical open-days, a total of 300 beneficiaries will be targeted across gynaecological and paediatric examinations, in addition to distributing Hygiene kits to 470 families with limited income and are among the most vulnerable in Zarqa, in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Development and its directorate in Zarqa, in addition to Soldiers Families Welfare Society.
The medical open days include organizing awareness sessions focusing on maternal health care, reproductive health, and personal hygiene to prevent and limit the spread of coronavirus. This activity aims to reach 200 beneficiaries, including men, women, and children.
She pointed out that the organization's projects are continuing, as the outputs are evaluated periodically, and the achievements that have been implemented on the ground are being followed up and maintained, to increase the possibility of improving the quality of services and reaching the largest number of beneficiaries.
The Director of Soldier’s Family Welfare Society, Mrs. Suhad Bani Mustafa, said that a high number of women and children benefited from the free medical days that last for six days, which provided free medical examinations and medicines for women and children, distributed hygiene kits, and organized awareness sessions focused on mother care and family planning and personal hygiene to reduce the spread of the emerging coronavirus.
Terre des Hommes Italy is a non-governmental organization that aims to provide protection services to children around the world, without racial, religious, political, or cultural discrimination, and it develops and implements projects to protect and educate children primarily and also works on maternal health in addition to income-generating projects and improving livelihoods, distributing Water and sanitation in more than 20 countries around the world, especially in the Middle East, noting that the organization started its work in Jordan since the year 2005.
