Jordan registers 7 COVID-19 related deaths, 361 infections on Friday

The Ministry of Health announced that 7 COVID-19 related deaths and 361 new cases were recorded in the Kingdom on Friday, bringing the death toll to 9,710 and the caseload to 749,046.

The ministry added in a press statement that 70 people had recovered and were discharged from hospitals while 51 others were admitted.

On the capacity of hospitals in the Kingdom, the ministry said that the occupancy rate of isolation beds in the northern region was at 6 per cent, intensive care beds 10 per cent and ventilators 5 per cent.

In the Central region, isolation beds were at an occupancy rate of 11 per cent, ICU beds at 25 per cent and ventilators 8 per cent, it said.

In the south, it added, the occupancy rate of isolation beds reached 5 per cent, ICU beds 6 per cent and ventilators 4 per cent.

It said that 18,135 PCR tests were collected today, bringing the total number of tests conducted since the start of the epidemic to 7,776,772, and that the positivity rate today was about 1.99 per cent.
