Iraq and Saudi discuss joint borders security

Ammon News - An Iraqi military delegation will visit the Saudi capital of Riyadh this weekend to discuss joint border security, Russia Today reported.

"The official delegation will include the deputy commander of joint operations in Iraq, Abdul-Amir Al-Shammari, the head of the Iraqi Border Ports Authority, national intelligence officers, as well as other military officials," according to Russia Today.

The delegation, the source pointed out, would discuss "border security, as well as intelligence information coordination between the two countries."

In March, Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi visited the kingdom, during which he met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman and discussed strengthening economic and security ties. During the visit, five agreements were reported to have been signed, covering the economic, security, and transportation sectors.

The Iraq–Saudi Arabia border is 811 kilometres in length and runs from the tripoint with Jordan in the west to the tripoint with Kuwait in the east.
