Ammon News - The Chairman and Members of Jordanian-European Parliamentary Friendship Association called on the countries of the world to consider Jordan as a "symbol of sacrifice, peace and humanity, as it is a safe haven for all vulnerable", Petra reported.
In a statement issued Monday on the occasion of the World Refugee Day, they said that Jordan, under the Hashemite leadership, has received waves of immigration over decades, the beginning of which was Palestinian asylum in 1948, and the last of which was Syrian asylum in 2011.
‘’In the light of the global health crisis; migrants, asylum seekers and refugees were among the worst affected, at higher risk of the Corona Virus or increased discrimination in their host countries’’, Chairman of the Association, MP Khaldoun Hina clarified.
He said: ‘’The values rooted in our people and our wise leadership towards all those who seek asylum in this Hashemite homeland made the refugees among its top priorities it did not leave anyone alone, but we were all partners’’.
Hina indicated that the needs of refugees require a regional and international effort that ensures the countries of the world and donors are encouraged and urged to abide by their duties, where no country in the world can bear the burden of asylum alone, emphasizing that "coexistence brings everyone out on a win-win-win base.
Jordan today, the lawmaker added, is suffering and struggling to provide the requirements for the residence of Syrian refugees so that it can perform its humanitarian tasks towards the refugees, calling on the international community to fulfill its obligations towards the country hosting the refugees for joint and sustainable life.
The statement said: ‘’On June 20th of each year, the world celebrates the "World Refugee Day", when more than 70 million people around the world have been forced out of their countries as a result of conflicts, including 41.3 million displaced person. To all the refugees who lost a homeland, a land and lovers, we say to you, Bless your determination to rebuild your lives away from your homes. We also proud of the host citizens who opened their countries and homes to those seeking safety and peace."
The statement called for all countries of the world should prove more solidarity and protection towards the most vulnerable groups, especially asylum seekers, refugees and migrants.
