Jordan Army Day

Ammon News - On June 10, Jordan marks Army Day which is the anniversary of the beginning of the Great Arab Revolt in the Ottoman Empire in 1916.

The Arab Revolt started on June 10, 1916. The uprising lasted for two years and was followed by the partitioning of the Ottoman Empire and the creation of the Emirate of Transjordan.

The Royal Jordanian Army was formed in 1920, however it is believed to draw its origins from the Hashemite forces that participated in the revolt. That is why June 10 is celebrated in Jordan as Army Day.
