The Senate on Saturday called on stakeholders to enforce the law, preserve public order, and hold accountable whoever seeks to tamper with domestic peace and social cohesion or spread sedition and chaos.
In a statement cited by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, the Upper House said that these practices cannot be ignored, stressing that attacks on the security of the homeland and citizens cannot be tolerated.
The Upper Chamber also rejected attempts by some of popular mobilisation using unreal grievances to spread chaos inside the country in a systematic effort that aims to distort the reputation of the Kingdom.
Any legitimate demand or right cannot be achieved through bullying or dictation but through dialogue and negotiations, which requires stakeholders to firmly slowdown those outlaws and their rejected actions, the House said, calling for holding accountable those responsible for such incitement.
The Chamber also stressed the importance of enforcing the law without any hesitation, noting that the Jordanian state, since its establishment, has always been a state of constitution, law and order, where the judiciary is the reference for anyone with grievances.
Also on Saturday, Interior Minister Mazen Faraiah said that security forces will block any assembly or gathering that is in violation of the law, or threatening to civil peace and security, Petra reported.
Recent days have seen acts and gatherings that, in form and substance, undermine the cohesion of the Jordanian national fabric, and include calls for rallies that are against the rule of law, and that undermine the peace and security of the society, Faraiah added.
While voicing the state's pride in the various components of the Jordanian people and their service to the nation, the minister said that the government will not allow such gatherings that aim to carry out “narrow agendas” that would harm the Kingdom’s national unity and societal cohesion, or undermine national security and intimidate citizens.
