Culture Minister, Sri Lanka Ambassador discuss cultural cooperation

 Minister of Culture Ali Al-Ayed n Sunday met with Sri Lanka Ambassador to Jordan, Shanika Dissanayake, for a discussion on means of cooperation in the cultural field, and the activation of cultural agreements between the two friendly countries.

Al-Ayed stressed the importance of the cultural role that the ministry is assuming in light of the health conditions that afflict the world, highlighting key activities that it is working on, including the celebration of the centenary of the Jordanian state and activities that occur during this year related to this occasion.

He pointed out to the depth of cultural relations that bind the two countries and the importance of developing them during the next stage to achieve the desired goals.

Al-Ayed, according to a press release, underlined the importance of the culture role in spreading positive spirit and optimism and resuming normal life through cultural tools closest to people, highlighting the societal and cultural diversity that characterizes both Jordan and Sri Lanka.

For her part, Ambassador Dissanayake stressed the importance of the deep-rooted ties between the two countries, on top of which are cultural relations, which make her country's participation in the Jordanian cultural scene an important opportunity through the 2021 Amman International Book Fair.

The first cultural cooperation agreement between Jordan and Sri Lanka was signed in Amman in 2007.
