Ammon News - Manchester United duo Paul Pogba and Amad held a Palestine flag following the draw against Fulham.

Manchester United pair Paul Pogba and Amad have issued their support for Palestine after displaying a flag following the draw against Fulham.

Edinson Cavani's wondrous goal was a treat for the 10,000 fans lucky enough to return to Old Trafford for the first time in 14 months but Joe Bryan's equaliser for relegated Fulham ensured the points were shared.

Following the match, the United players took part in the traditional lap of honour around the stadium for the final home game of the season - which holds more importance this year due to the disruption caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Pogba and Amad took the opportunity to show support to Palestine, following the latest flare-up in the long-standing confrontations with Israel.

Palestine has received a wealth of support in recent weeks, with hundreds of campaigners marching through Manchester city centre and shouting 'free Palestine'.

Thousands of Palestinians have been forced to flee their homes after more than a week of sustained conflict.

Since last Monday night, Palestinian militant group Hamas has fired hundreds of rockets into Israel, whose military responded by barraging the Gaza Strip with tank fire and air strikes.

Pogba and Amad, both Muslim, have now issued their support of Palestine in the ongoing conflict, with hope of a peaceful resolution being reached.

The conflict between Palestine and Israel has been present for decades, starting in 1947 following the conclusion of the Second World War - which saw mass Jewish immigration and the establishment of a Jewish state.

The holy city of Jerusalem is heavily involved in the conflict, with Palestine seeing the city as the capital of a future state while Israel sees the as their capital - though this is not recognised by numerous countries around the world.
