Two tourist businesses shut down

Ammon News - Two tourist establishments were shut down to mid-May by inspection teams from the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, and concerned authorities following non-compliance to the preventative COVID-19 public health and safety measures in place.

In addition, the field oversight teams fined and issued notices to 16 other tourist businesses, said a ministry press statement issued on Sunday.

The joint gov't teams, tasked to monitor the tourist sector, visited 961 businesses countrywide, the ministry said, adding that the required legal measures were taken against the violators.

During the monitoring campaigns, 507 tourist establishments were found to adhere to preventive measures for public health and safety, the ministry announced.

Comprised of 15 committees, the teams brought together representatives from the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM), The Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA), Jordan Restaurant Association (JRA), Jordan Hotel Association (JHA) and the Royal Department for Environmental Protection and Tourism (Rangers)
