Arrivals from Arab Gulf states should get Covid-19 vaccine in advance

Ammon News - Minister of Interior, Mazen Faraya, said passengers arriving to Jordan's border crossings from Arab Gulf states should present a certificate proving that they received the anti-Covid-19 vaccine.

The minister's decision to set the arrival guidelines came in his letter sent Tuesday to the Director of Public Security Directorate (PSD), which detailed procedures to receive Jordanians and passengers coming from the Arab Gulf countries en route Jordan's land borders with Saudi Arabia.

Under the new procedures, passengers are required to present a certificate proving that they had received two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, or that 14 days had passed since the first jab was administered (except for the Sinopharm vaccine).

With regard to children under (18) years old and accompanying their families, negative PCR test result issued before 72 hours prior to arrival is needed, except their dependents under the age of six, the letter read.

As for passengers wishing to travel to Jordan without receiving the vaccine, the minister said these arrivals should register on the gov't platform and adhere to the conditions previously applied, noting that implementation of these procedures will be taken into consideration at the airports and other land crossings "at a later time."
The minister's decision comes due to the beginning of the summer season and the improvement in Jordan's epidemiological situation in recent days, in a bid to facilitate arrivals coming to the Kingdom.
