Health ministry monitoring Indian COVID-19 variant, urges caution

Ammon News - Assistant Secretary-General for Primary Health Care Ghazi Sharkas Monday warned the public against lack of adherence to preventative COVID-19 measures, following the emergence of a variant that first broke out in India, Petra reported.

In a statement, Sharkas said that the Indian variant is being monitored, adding that the necessary measures had been taken to curb its spread.

On the national COVID-19 immunization plan, he pointed out that the past few days witnessed an increase in the number of people who registered on the national vaccination platform. These indicators, along with the stability of the epidemiological situation in the Kingdom, are 'cause for optimism,' he noted, urging more caution.
