Ammon News - Agriculture department teams in the southern Ma'an Governorate Monday fought the last swarms of locusts in the Al Jafer region and declared the entire governorate free of the insects "for the time being."
Director of the department Ahmed Al Khattab said that three exploratory teams had spread out in many regions of the south to monitor the swarms coming across the eastern border, and five other specialized teams were engaging the inspects.
"Fighting the last pockets in which the swarms of locusts existed in Al-Jafr farms is complete, and therefore the areas within the department's control within the Ma'an governorate are now locust-free," he said, noting that farmers in the region suffered "very limited" damage.
