Ammon News - A British woman previously jailed in Iran has been sentenced to another year behind bars and banned from leaving the country, Mirror reported.

Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, 42, last month completed a five-year sentence in Tehran on widely refuted spying charges.

An Iranian Revolutionary court on Monday sentenced the British-Iranian aid worker to a one-year jail term, her lawyer Hojjat Kermani told Emtedad news website.

Ms Zaghari-Ratcliffe, from Hampstead, north-west London, was also banned from leaving Iran for a year, according to Mirror.

The lawyer said: "Nazanin Zaghari was sentenced to one year in prison and one year ban from leaving the country on charges of propaganda against the Islamic Republic."

After completing her five-year sentence, Ms Zaghari-Ratcliffe faced further uncertainty as she waited the outcome of the second court case.

Many have linked her case to a long-standing debt.

The UK is thought to owe Iran as much as £400 million over the non-delivery of tanks in 1979, with the shipment stopped because of the Islamic revolution.

Last month, ministers said Britain continued to “explore options” to resolve the dispute but insisted the “two issues cannot be merged into one”.
