Christians in Jordan celebrated Palm Sunday, which falls on the Sunday before Easter and commemorates Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem, where the city’s residents received him with palm and olive branches, according to Christian beliefs.

In an atmosphere of joy, Christians returned to prayer in churches after a break of nearly two months on Sundays due to the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

In the celebrations, held in churches all over the Kingdom, prayers were raised thanking national efforts made amid the health crisis, for the sake of the souls the pandemic's martyrs, the sick and suffering in regular and field hospitals and in homes, and for the homeland and the entire humanity to return to normal by eliminating this pandemic soon.

In their prayers, believers also recalled the city of Jerusalem, and prayed it would remain as a holy city of peace and a civilization of love, and that the basic rights of freedom, dignity and access to Islamic and Christian sites of worship would be fully respected.
