Agriculture Ministry exploration teams were tracking "intermittent" swarms of desert locusts in the southern Amman districts of Sahab, Wadi Al-Seer, Muqabalin and areas near the Airport Road.
Spokesman Lawrence Al-Majali said that ministry crews were using special spraying machines and equipment to combat the locusts, which came from desert areas and helped by winds.
Ministry teams, backed by the Royal Jordanian Air Force, were fighting swarms of locusts in large agricultural areas in Al Mudawwarah near the border with Saudi Arabia.
The ministry warned citizens against touching the insects or collecting them for their safety.
