Jordan records 70 COVID-19 fatalities, 2, 963 new cases on Thursday

The Ministry of Health announced 70 Covid-19 fatalities and 2,963 new cases were recorded in the Kingdom on Thursday, bringing the death toll to 8,057 and the caseload to 679, 138.


The statement added that there are currently 49, 211 cases on Thursday countrywide.


The new infections comprised 1,047 cases in the capital, Amman, 486 in Irbid, including 53 in the northern border district of Ramtha, 376 in Zarqa, 230 in Mafraq, 179 in Balqa, 141 in Karak, 112 in Tafileh, 101 in Jerash, 89 in Ajloun, 88 in Madaba, 60 in Ma'an, including 10 in the southern region of Petra, and 54 in Aqaba, according to the media statement issued by the Prime Ministry and the Ministry of Health.


The number of patients who were admitted to hospitals today stood at 292, while 276 cases have recovered and discharged, the statement added.


According to the briefing, the total number of recoveries recorded Thursday, whether at hospitals or at home, stood at 4, 774 bringing the total to 621,870 since the outbreak began.


Moreover, the number of Covid-19 patients still receiving treatment at hospitals countrywide has reached 2, 377.


The statement also indicated that occupancy of ICU beds in the northern, central and southern regions, has has reached 66%, 63%, and 37%, respectively.


With regard to testing, 21761 tests were conducted Thursday, 13.62 percent of which were positive.


Since last March, the total number of tests administered has increased to 6,426,320, the joint statement noted.
