JCI urges coordination with Iraqi embassy to facilitate exports flow

Ammon News - Head of the Jordan Chamber of Industry (JCI), Fathi Jaghbir, called for strengthening partnership and coordination with the Iraqi embassy here to facilitate flow of Jordanian exports to the Iraqi market.

Speaking during talks held with Iraqi ambassador to Jordan, Haider Al-Athari, on Wednesday, Jaghbir said Iraq is a "major" market for Jordanian industrial products, which requires "increased" coordination with the Iraqi side to discuss the obstacles and challenges facing the exporting process.

According to a JCI press statement, Jaghbir, who also heads the Amman Chamber of Industry, said talks held "permanently and intensively" with the Iraqi embassy to discuss the challenges facing investors in exporting their products to the Iraqi market supports finding "constructive" solutions in a quicker manner.

In 2020, Jaghbir noted national exports to Iraq amounted to about $627 million, an increase of 4.5 percent, compared to 2019, which hit $17 million in imports.
The Iraqi diplomat, in turn, referred to the measures taken to grant entry visas to Iraq to facilitate the free movement of traders and investors, stressing readiness to increase coordination with the JCI to discuss any obstacles facing joint trade.
