82 new virus deaths, 2,790 infections recorded in Kingdom

Ammon News - The Ministry of Health said Tuesday it recorded 82 coronavirus deaths and 2,790 cases across the Kingdom, bringing the death toll from the pandemic to 7,937 and the caseload to 672,090.

The new cases were: 798 in Amman, 397 in Irbid, including 5 in Ramtha district, 383 in Zarqa, 171 in Karak, 161 in Jerash, 158 in Ajloun, 143 in Mafraq, 132 in Madaba, 126 in Balqa, 112 in Ma'an, including 38 in Petra, 111 in Aqaba and 98 in Tafileh, according to the daily media brief by the Health Ministry and the Prime Ministry.

It said that the number of active cases currently stands at 53,539, with 305 admitted today to hospitals and 330 being discharged, while the total number of confirmed cases being hospitalized reached 2,607.

On the capacity of hospitals in the Kingdom, it said that the occupancy rate of isolation beds in the northern region was at 42 per cent, intensive care beds 72 per cent and ventilators 43 per cent.

In the central region, isolation beds have an occupancy rate of 51 per cent, ICU beds 63 per cent and ventilators 35 per cent.

In the South, the occupancy rate of isolation beds was at 28 per cent, ICU beds 35 per cent and ventilators 23 per cent.

The report also said that 6,570 cases of recovery were registered today in home isolation and in hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries to 610,614.

It also said 23,823 COVID-19 tests were collected today, bringing the total number of PCR tests since the start of the pandemic to 637,2263, and that the positivity rate today was at about 11.71 per cent, compared to 12.88 per cent yesterday.
