Romania and Jordan

Ammon News - Jordan's Speaker of the Lower House Abdulmunim Oddat and Romanian Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu held talks in Amman Sunday on boosting inter-parliamentary cooperation between Jordan and Romania.

The meeting focused on the economic, education, energy and agriculture cooperation between the two countries, as Oddat said that there are "significant" prospects for cooperation on those scopes.

Oddat took the chance to highlight that the Kingdom holds high Romania's support for the two-state solution to the ages-long Palestinian-Israeli conflict and its support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).

He emphasized that Jordan has been an avid supporter of the Palestinians to establish their own sovereign state, as the Kingdom "carries the protection banner for the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II who acts on behalf of the Arab and Islamic nations in shouldering this burden."

In turn, Aurescu congratulated Jordan for its 100th anniversary, underscoring the "distinguished" ties between the two countries.

He noted that Jordan's stability is important for regional stability and said that his visit reflects Bucharest's commitment to bolstering and continuing cooperation, especially on agriculture, IT, energy and food security.

He stressed Romania's support for the two-state solution to bring about regional peace and stability.
