Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, discussed with his Egyptian counterpart, Sameh Shoukry, a number of bilateral issues and region's developments in the context of the continuous consultation and coordination process between the two countries.

In a phone call Safadi made with Shoukry on Wednesday, the duo affirmed the "deep-rooted, distinguished" bilateral relations that are reflected in the joint "growing" cooperation in all fields, in implementation of the two countries' leaderships' directives.

Safadi and Shoukry discussed the ongoing preparations for holding the upcoming summit of the trilateral cooperation mechanism between Jordan, Egypt and Iraq in Baghdad soon.

The talks focused on efforts exerted to find a "real" horizon to achieve a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, in accordance with international law, international legitimacy resolutions, and the Arab Peace Initiative, according to a ministry press statement.

The ministers stressed the importance of crystallizing "effective" international action to relaunch serious negotiations that would lead to real progress towards peace, in which the two-state solution is the only way, said the statement.

The duo also stressed the continued action within the framework of the "Munich Group", which includes in addition to Jordan, Egypt, Germany and France, and international partners to achieve this targeted peacemaking progress, noted the statement.

Shoukry briefed Safadi on the developments related to resolving the issue of the Renaissance Dam.

Safadi pointed out that Egypt's water security is part of the Arab national security, adding the Kingdom "firmly" supports Egypt in protecting its rights.

Safadi stressed the importance of reaching a negotiated solution to the issue of the Renaissance Dam that preserves the rights of the Egypt and Sudan and all parties, pointing to the need to shun any steps that overlook rights of all parties in the Nile waters, and not to fill the dam outside a fair agreement on the basis of international law.

Safadi affirmed that the intensive efforts made by Egypt to reach a negotiated agreement on the issue of the dam reflects its keenness to achieve justice in the distribution of the Nile waters in a way that prevents tension and consolidates cooperation.

On the region's developments, the two ministers highlighted efforts made to solve regional crises, stressing the importance of strengthening the Arab role in efforts to solve these crises to protect Arab interests and common Arab security.
