Jordanian Media Credibility Monitor "Akeed"

Ammon News - The Jordanian Media Credibility Monitor "Akeed" has recorded 35 rumors disseminated on social media platforms in the Kingdom during March, including 13 -health related falsified stories pertaining to the coronavirus and a recent deadly oxygen supply outage incident.

In a monthly report highlighting false items and rumors propagated on social media platforms and other channels, Akeed said it recorded 8 rumors related to the oxygen supply disruption incident at the Salt Public Hospital, which left 7 patients dead. Another 5 rumors were disseminated, throwing false claims about a blanket lockdown for three days or two weeks or three weeks.

Out of the total, 33 rumors, or 94 percent, came from local sources while the remaining two rumors came from foreign sources, the report indicates.
