Ammon News - Minister of Social Development, Ayman Mufleh, decided to form an ad committee to review the effective 2008 Associations Law No. 51 and its amendments, and the draft laws that have been previously proposed on 2014, 2015, and 2019, respectively, and prepare a new bill, within a maximum period of 3 months.
In a press statement on Sunday, Mufleh called for the need to open a community dialogue on the draft law by launching an online platform to receive proposals and holding discussions with civil society organizations.
The committee, which came in line with Jordan's Constitution articles 16 and 128, which affirm Jordanians' right to establish and join associations, according to the law, he noted.
The committee came in compliance with provisions of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), and the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (ICERD), among others, addressing the right to form, join associations per the law, according to the minister.
To maintain the associations' sustainability, he said the panel aims to enable them to play their role and enhance their integrity, governance against the risks of money laundering, terror-related financing, and corruption.
