Prime Minister, Bisher Khasawneh issued Defense Order No. 28 of 2021 issued under the provisions of Defense Law No. 13 of 1992, as follows:

In accordance with the provisions of Article 3 of Defense Law No. 13 of 1992, and to reduce overcrowding in reform and rehabilitation centers and prevent the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic in them, and taking into account the financial and economic conditions resulting from the pandemic, I herby issue the following defense order:
First: The implementation of debtor imprisonment decisions issued in accordance with the provisions of Article 22 of the Implementation Law No. 25 of 2007 shall be postponed, provided that the total amounts adjudicated do not exceed JD100,000.
Second: The implementation of the penal provisions imposing the imprisonment penalty for crimes related to the issuance of a check with no corresponding balance shall be suspended according to the provisions of Article 421 of the Penal Code No. 16 of 1960 in cases where the total value of checks does not exceed JD100,000.
Third: Travel for persons covered by the provisions of clauses (first) and (second) of this defense order shall be forbidden, according to a decision issued by the competent judicial authority.
Fourth: The provisions of this defense order shall take effect as of Monday 3/29/2021 until 12/31/2021.
Fifth: The work shall be suspended with any text or legislation that contradicts any of the provisions of this defense order.
Sixth: The Prime Minister may extend the provisions of this defense order or amend any of its provisions in light of the epidemiological situation, according to circulars he issues for this purpose.
