Ammon News - Temperatures on Thursday are expected to drop 4-5 degrees below annual average, bringing cold weather conditions in most parts of the Kingdom, while it will be much warmer in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba, with low clouds and a chance of spotty showers in the northern and central regions, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily brief.
Winds will be westerly moderate to brisk, blowing dust in the eastern and southern areas of the country, the JMD added.
The weather department warned of slippery roads in the areas experiencing rain, strong winds, and of poor horizontal visibility due to dust and fog over the highlands and the Badia.
A further dip in mercury levels is forecast on Friday, so cold and partly cloudy weather will remain nationwide with a possibility of intermittent rain in the northern and central highlands that may stretch to cover the southwestern areas, while winds will be northwesterly moderate to active, stirring dust in the desert, the forecasters predicted.
On Saturday, similar cold weather along with overcast skies will continue to persist, the JMD said, noting that winds will be northwesterly moderate to brisk, blowing dust in the Badia.
The highs in Amman and other highlands across the Kingdom will range between 9 and 14 degrees Celsius today, dropping to 10 at night. In the Jordan Valley and Aqaba, it will be much warmer with mercury levels reaching 26C.
