Ammon News - A rise in mercury levels is expected on Sunday, becoming 6-7 degrees above annual average and bringing warm weather in most parts of the Kingdom and relatively hot conditions in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba with southwesterly moderate to brisk winds, blowing dust in the Badia areas.

According to the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD), temperatures will dip few degrees on Monday, so it will be fair in most regions, except in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba where it will be relatively warm, with clouds at medium and high altitudes and a chance of spotty showers, while winds will be westerly moderate, mainly in the eastern and southeastern areas, causing poor visibility at times.

As we head into Tuesday, a tangible increase in mercury is forecast, becoming well above seasonal average by almost 10C, the JMD said, noting that the weather will be relatively warm, dry and dusty with clouds at various altitudes and scattered showers in the northern areas of the country later at night.

Winds will be southwesterly active with strong gusts, and stirring dust which will cause low horizontal visibility, especially in the desert.

On Wednesday, the Kingdom will be affected by a relatively cold and wet air mass, pushing temperatures down and bringing relatively cold and partly cloudy weather in the highlands and plains, while it will be mild in the Jordan Valley and Aqaba, with a possibility of light rain in the northern areas, the JMD predicted.

The highs in Amman and other highlands across the Kingdom will range between 23 and 26 degrees Celsius on Saturday, dropping to 10 at night. In the Jordan Valley and Aqaba, it will be much warmer with mercury levels in the 33 degrees Celsius vicinity.
