Jordan records 87 COVID-19 fatalities, 5, 205 new cases on Saturday

The Ministry of Health announced 87 Covid-19 fatalities and 5, 205 new cases were recorded in the Kingdom on Saturday, bringing the death toll to 5,788 and the caseload to 526, 666.

The new infections comprised 2, 411 cases in the capital, Amman, 978 in Irbid, including 95 in the northern border district of Ramtha, 424 in Zarqa, 298 in Mafraq, 237 in Balqa, 198 in Aqaba, 178 in Ajloun, 149 in Madaba, 108 in Jerash, 91 in Tafileh, 81 in Karak, and 52 in Ma'an , including 9 in Petra region, according to the media statement issued by the Prime Ministry and the Ministry of Health.

The statement added that there are currently 94, 124 active COVID-19 cases in Jordan.

The number of hospitalizations today stood at 398, while 190 patients have recovered and discharged, the statement noted.


According to the briefing, the total number of recoveries recorded Saturday, whether at hospitals or at home, stood at 6, 302, bringing the total to 426,754 since the outbreak began.


Moreover, the number of Covid-19 patients still receiving treatment at hospitals countrywide has reached 3, 287, including 374 on ventilators.


The statement also indicated that the number of confirmed and suspected cases on ICU beds has reached 729, or 57% of the total ICU bed occupancy capacity.
With regard to testing, 27,692 tests were conducted Saturday, 18.8 percent of which were positive.


Since last March, the total number of tests administered has increased to 5,431,286, the joint statement noted.
