Prime Minister, Dr. Bisher Khasawneh, has instructed the Minister of Social Development and the Acting Minister of Labor / Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Development and Employment Fund (DEF), Ayman Mufleh, to defer payment of its clients' loan installments, to mitigate the citizens' economic burdens, amid the pandemic-induced repercussions.
The government's moratorium decision comes in implementation of the Royal directives to take steps that would alleviate the Covid-19 crisis's fallout.
In implementation of the Prime Minister's instructions, the DEF decided in its meeting held Wednesday, headed by Mufleh, announced a six-month moratorium period for its borrowers, without incurring any late payment interests, or profit on the deferred installments, unless the beneficiary decides otherwise.
Speaking during the meeting, Mufleh announced 26, 000 people will benefit from the Cabinet's decision, which would contribute to alleviating the citizens' burdens in these "exceptional" circumstances facing the Kingdom, triggered by the continued Covid-19 pandemic.
Mufleh indicated that all DEF's installment deferral will cover all lending programs, which are due from 1/4/2021 until 9/30/2021 for a six-month period.
