The Ministry of Health announced 56 Covid-19 fatalities and 9, 535 new cases were recorded in the Kingdom on Wednesday, bringing the death toll to 5,553 and the caseload to 504, 915.
The new infections comprised 4, 702 cases in the capital, Amman, 1, 213 in Zarqa, 1, 186 in Irbid, including 90 in the northern border district of Ramtha, 541 in Balqa, 306 in Ajloun, 305 in Karak, 267 in Mafraq, 242 in Madaba, 234 in Aqaba, 219 Jerash, 180 in Ma'an , including 46 in Petra region, and 140 in Tafileh, according to the media statement issued by the Prime Ministry and the Ministry of Health.
The number of patients who were admitted to hospitals today stood at 473, while 277 cases have recovered and discharged, the statement added.
According to the briefing, the total number of recoveries recorded Wednesday, whether at hospitals or at home, stood at 5733, bringing the total to 412,387 since the outbreak began.
Moreover, the number of Covid-19 patients still receiving treatment at hospitals countrywide has reached 3, 102, including 357 on ventilators.
The statement also indicated that the number of confirmed and suspected cases on ICU beds has reached 671, or 53% of the total ICU bed occupancy capacity.
With regard to testing, 50,180 tests were conducted Wednesday, 19 percent of which were positive.
Since last March, the total number of tests administered has increased to 5,317,747, the joint statement noted.
