Ammon News - Jordanian ambassador in London, Omar Nahar, said that Jordan and the United Kingdom are partners in recovering from the impacts of the Coronavirus pandemic, and that there are exceptional opportunities for the two kingdoms to work in better rebuilding and leveraging the results from outcomes of the recent global pandemic.
During his participation in a virtual seminar organized by the Arab-British Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, the ambassador expressed his hope to deepen partnerships between the public and private sectors in the future, noting that the information and communication technology sector in Jordan contributed by 12 percent of the GDP and provided about 84,000 jobs.
Ambassador Nahar said that this milestone was achieved under the royal patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah, who led new initiatives in this sector.
Nahar emphasized Jordan's keenness to learn from the United Kingdom's expertise in the field of technical studies and technical schools, given that one of its priorities is to enable graduates to enter the labor market with better readiness.
For her part, the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Arab-British Chamber, Baroness Simmons, lauded the deep-rooted historical partnership between the two kingdoms, stressing its importance in looking forward to the new era after Britain's exit from the European Union (EU), which will be achieved in light of the UKs new degree of independence in trade and the development of bilateral relations.
The Secretary-General and CEO of the Arab-British Chamber of Commerce, Bandar Ridha, stressed the importance of the close relations between the two kingdoms at various levels.
He indicated that the Chamber plans to dispatch a commercial mission to Jordan once the closure is lifted, especially since the Kingdom is a pioneer in various sectors in the Middle East, and ranks high in commercial performance surveys.
