Jordan records 52 deaths and 7413new Covid-19 infections

The Ministry of Health said Monday that 52 deaths from the coronavirus and 7,413 new cases were recorded in the various regions of the Kingdom, bringing the death toll from the pandemic to 4,987 and the caseload to 435,130.

The new cases were: 3,929 in Amman, 760 in Irbid, including 69 in Ramtha district, 714 in Zarqa, 619 in Balqa, 250 in Madaba, 242 in Karak, 211 in Aqaba, 200 in Mafraq, 176 in Ajloun, 125 in Jerash, 102 in Ma'an and 85 in Tafileh, according to the daily epidemiological report by the Health Ministry and the Prime Ministry.

It said that active cases in the Kingdom currently stand at 58,689, including 432 that were admitted today to hospitals, and that 262 cases have been discharged.

It pointed out that the total number of confirmed cases being hospitalized reached 2,248, with 1,743 in isolation wards yesterday, at an occupancy rate of 38%, and 469 were in ICU units, including 209 on ventilators.

According to the daily brief, 4,139 cases of recovery were recorded today in home isolation and in hospitals, bringing the total number of cured cases to 371,454.

It also said that 46,197 COVID-19 tests were collected today, bringing the total number of swab tests since the start of the pandemic to date to 4,910,795, with a positivity rate today of about 16.05 percent.

The Ministry repeated its call for adherence to defence orders, and to follow preventive measures, especially wearing masks, and not holding gatherings of more than 20 people, in addition to following the awareness campaigns it launched in partnership with a number of ministries and entities to prevent infection, and to register for vaccination.
