38 new COVID-19 related deaths, 3,481 infections in Kingdom

The Ministry of Health said Saturday it recorded 38 coronavirus deaths and 3,481 infections in various regions of the Kingdom, raising the pandemic death toll to 4,900 and the caseload to 421,415.

The infections were: 2,196 in Amman, 352 in Irbid, including 12 in Ramtha district, 310 in Balqa, 138 in Madaba, 124 in Zarqa, 112 in Karak, 109 in Jerash, 46 cases in Ma'an, 44 in Ajloun, 36 in Aqaba and 14 in Mafraq, according to the daily brief by the Health Ministry and the Prime Ministry.

The daily report said that currently active cases in the Kingdom stand at 53,750, including 280 that were admitted to hospitals today, and 80 were discharged.

The total number of confirmed cases now being hospitalized is 2,086, and 1,599 were on isolation beds in hospitals yesterday, at an occupancy rate of 35%, including 415 in the ICU, 196 of them on ventilators, according to the report.

It also said that 3,917 cases recovered today in home isolation and in hospitals, bringing the total recoveries to 362,765.

The bulletin also said that 25,952 PCR tests were collected today, bringing the total examinations since the outbreak began to 4,822,160, with a positivity rate of about 13.41 percent.

The Ministry called for strict adherence to defence orders, and to follow preventive measures, especially wearing masks and not holding gatherings of more than 20 people, in addition to following up on the awareness campaigns that it launched in partnership with a number of ministries and agencies to curb infection, and to register to take the vaccine.
