29 new COVID-19 related deaths, 4,584 infections in Kingdom

The Ministry of Health said Friday it recorded 29 COVID-19 related deaths and 4,584 cases across the Kingdom, bringing the death toll from the pandemic to 4,862 and the infection caseload to 417,934.

The new infections were: 2,776 in Amman, 487 in Irbid, 367 in Zarqa, 285 in Balqaa, 156 in Aqaba, 131 in Karak, 108 in Madaba, 88 in Jerash, 64 in Tafila, 52 in Ajloun, 51 in Mafraq, and 19 in Maan, according to the daily media brief by the Health Ministry and the Prime Ministry.

It said that the number of currently active COVID-19 cases reached 54,224 including 287 who were admitted to hospitals today, and 205 cases were discharged.

It also said 34,385 PCR tests were collected today, bringing the total number of examinations since the outbreak to date to 4,796,208, pointing out that the positivity tests for the day was about 13.33%.

The Ministry called for adherence to defence orders and to follow preventive measures, especially wearing masks and not holding gatherings of more than 20 people, and the awareness campaigns it launched in partnership with a number of ministries and entities to prevent infection and to register for vaccination.
