The Ministry of Education announced it has decided to suspend the return of 4th to 9th graders to in-person classroom education until further notice.
The ministry also announced 4th to 9th grades will continue to receive distance education, according to its press statement issued on Thursday.
The students, who earlier returned to in-person instruction, included the students of the three first three grades, 12 graders, in addition to kindergarten students, and will now receive direct and remote learning, according to the ministry's plan to return to schools over the second semester, read the statement.
The ministry affirmed that it will continue to follow up on the developments of the Kingdom's epidemiological situation, review its decisions periodically, and announce new steps with "full" transparency and clarity, said the statement.
The ministry stressed that the competent government authorities will continue to conduct daily evaluation of the health protocol and compliance requirements in schools countrywide, noted the statement.
The statement indicated that all the ministry's decisions already taken, or future ones, will be based on preserving health of students, teachers and administrative workers in schools, concluded the statement.
