The Ministry of Health announced 40 Covid-19 fatalities and 5,733 new cases were recorded in the Kingdom on Thursday, bringing the death toll to 4,833 and the caseload to 413,350.
The new infections comprised 3, 040 cases in the capital Amman, 681 in Zarqa, 611 in Balqa, 491 in Irbid, including 26 in the northern border district of Ramtha, 214 in Madaba, 193 in Jerash, 106 in Aqaba, 103 in Karak, 97 in Ajloun, 76 in Mafrqa, 65 in Tafileh, and 56 in Ma'an, according to the media statement issued by the Prime Ministry and the Ministry of Health.
The number of patients who were admitted to hospitals today stood at 372, while 181 cases have recovered and discharged, the statement added.
According to the briefing, the cumulative number of recoveries recorded Thursday, whether at hospitals or home, stood at 867, bringing the total to 356,648 since the outbreak began.
Moreover, the number of patients still receiving treatment at hospitals has reached 1, 884, including 173 on ventilators.
The statement also indicated that the number of confirmed and suspected cases on ICU beds has reached 377, or 37% of the total ICU bed capacity.
With regard to testing, 43,459 tests were conducted Thursday, 13.19 percent of which were positive, the statement noted.
Since last March, the total number of tests administered countrywide has increased to 4,761,823, the joint statement noted.
