Ammon News - Jordan on Thursday will remain under the impact of the cold and humid air mass, as mercury will dip, bringing chilly and partly cloudy conditions along with spotty showers.

According to the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD), rainfall is expected to be heavier accompanied by thunder storms and hail in various regions, causing flash floods in the valleys and low-lying areas, including the Dead Sea.

The southern highlands of the Kingdom are expected to see snow showers that may mix with rain in the early morning hours, while winds will be northwesterly active, blowing dust in the Badia regions, the JMD said.

Toward night, sky will start to clear, the perception will decrease and the weather will gradually stabilize, the forecasters predicted.

The weather department warned of slippery roads during rainfall, flood formation, and poor visibility due to fog and dust formation in the early morning and the late night hours over the highlands and the Badia.

On Friday, temperatures will rise few degrees, making relatively cold conditions in most areas of the country, except in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba where it will be mild, with low clouds and northwesterly moderate to brisk winds, the JMD noted.

A further rise in mercury levels is forecast on Saturday, becoming 3-4 degrees above their annual average, so it will be fair in most regions and relatively warm in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba, with southeasterly moderate winds, the Department said.

Daytime temperatures expected for today will reach 10 degrees Celsius in Amman and 6C in the northern highlands, dropping down to 6 and 4C respectively at night. The weather will be warmer in the port city of Aqaba with highs reaching 20C and lows standing at 12C, the JMD explained.
