23 COVID-19 related deaths, 3,644 cases recorded in Kingdom

The Ministry of Health said Friday it recorded 23 COVID-19 related deaths and 3,644 new cases across the Kingdom, bringing the death toll since the outbreak began to 4,650 deaths and the total number of infections to 383,912.

The new cases were: 2,432 in Amman, 329 in Zarqa, 275 in Irbid, including 30 in Ramtha district, 243 in Balqaa, 102 in Madaba, 65 in Jerash, 48 in Aqaba, 40 in Tafila, 35 in Mafraq, 34 in Ajloun, 23 in Karak, and 18 in Maan, according to the daily brief by the Health Ministry and the Prime Ministry.

It said that currently active cases stand 35,422, including 270 that were admitted to hospitals today, and 189 were discharged.

Further, it said that 30,283 swab tests were taken today, bringing the total number of PCR tests since the start of the pandemic to 4,540,283, with a positivity rate today of about 12.03 per cent.

The ministry urged strict adherence to the defense orders and to follow preventive precautions, especially wearing masks and not holding gatherings of more than 20 people, in addition to following the awareness campaigns it previously launched in partnership with ministries and agencies to prevent infection, and to register for vaccination.
