Minister of Interior Sameer Mubaideen Tuesday directed governors across the Kingdom to continue to arrest individuals flouting defence orders and penalize violating facilities, regardless their classification or the kind of business they do.
The public safety measure is to limit infections with the coronavirus in view of a spike in the epidemiological situation, which warrants that governors cooperate and coordinate with regional leaders and police directors to strictly implement the defence orders and meet the requirements of security, order and the safety of society, he said in a press release.
The minister asked governors to shut down facilities within their jurisdiction once the violation is proven, refer the owners to the judiciary and on to the administrative governor for administrative detention on bail, pending the type of violation outlined in the defence order.
The minister also directed continued enforcement of a ban on parties and social events of more than 20 people in line with the accredited medical protocol, and to ensure the use of protective gear, including wearing masks and social distancing, and to coordinate with the security councils in the governorates upon learning about social events, including mourning houses and weddings.
He urged that violating facilities be published in local media outlets, and called on governors to fully support official bodies concerned with the supervision and inspection of facilities, and follow up on the citizens' commitment to partial lockdown hours and penalize individuals found in violation.
