Al Husseini Mosque

Ammon News - Under Royal directives, Minister of Endowment, Islamic Affairs and Holy Places, Mohammed Khalayleh, said a committee was formed from the Royal Hashemite Court (RHC), the ministry, and the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM), to develop the necessary designs to construct a new glass planetarium at Al Husseini Mosque downtown Amman at the King's expense, after its external yards were damaged, as a result of the weather conditions and snowfall, the Jordan News Agency, Petra reported.

Touring the mosque, Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Issawi, head of the follow-up committee for the implementation of Royal Initiatives, Yousef Essawi, and Khalayleh were briefed on the monument's weather-related damage.

In a press statement, Khalayleh said the new planetarium will cover the outer mosque yards, in a way that would contribute to increasing its prayer capacity, and reflect its religious and historical position, Petra reported.

In the aftermath of a fire that broke out in the mosque in 2019, a renovation project was carried, which included a new pulpit, as well as a number of wood and mosaic facades, in implementation of the King's directives.
