Ammon News - Jordan on Thursday is expected to remain under the impact of a chilly air mass accompanying a depression, so bitter cold and partly cloudy weather will prevail nationwide with occasionally heavy rain, thunder, lightning and hail.
According to the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD), snow showers are also forecast to continue in the afternoon over the high mountain peaks that are 1,000 meters above sea level and higher, while winds will be westerly active.
The weather department warned of slippery roads, poor visibility due to fog formation, flash floods in the northern and central regions, and of the possibility of snow accumulation over highlands.
Friday is forecast to bring in similar chilly and cloudy conditions, with spotty rain in the western regions, extenting in the evening to cover other parts of the Kingdom, the JMD said.
Rainfall is expected to be heavier at times, while winds will be southwesterly moderate to brisk, the JMD added.
Mercury levels will rise few degrees on Saturday, but very cold and partly cloudy weather will continue to prevail with a chance of scattered showers in the western areas of the country, the department predicted.
Freeze formation is also forecast in the late night hours over the highlands and the Badia regions, the JMD further said.
Daytime temperatures expected for today will reach 6 degrees Celsius in Amman, 2C in the northern cities and 3C in the southern highlands, dropping down to -1, - 2 and -4C respectively at night. The weather will be warmer in the port city of Aqaba with highs reaching 17C and lows standing at 10C, the JMD explained.
