The Ministry of Education, on Thursday, said that the adherence to health protocol related to COVID-19 at schools stood at 97.7 per cent during the first week of students’ gradual return to schools.

It added that the attendance rate of in-class education at public schools reached 84.4 per cent, of which 17 per cent have chosen distance learning based on written letters to the ministry by their parents.

The ministry last month launched a guidebook on the return of students to school for the second semester under health measures taken with regard to the coronavirus pandemic.

Kindergarten, first graders and general secondary (Tawjihi) students will return to school on February 7, followed by second graders on the day after, and third graders on February 9, according to the guidebook.
