Ammon News - The special taxes imposed on various oil derivatives annually provide the Treasury with some JD1 billion, Energy Minister Hala Zawati said on Tuesday.
During a meeting of the Lower House Energy Committee, head of the panel MP Zeid Otoum said that Zawati, during the meeting, noted that the high prices of oil derivatives in Jordan are attributed to imposing special taxes on octane-95 by JD0.57 per litre, JD0.37 on each litre of octane-90 and JD0.16 per litre on kerosene and diesel.
Replying to lawmakers’ queries, the minister expressed the government’s keenness on diversifying energy resources, noting that 10 years ago, the government started resorting to multiple resources for energy.
