Ammon News - Lower House Speaker, Abdel Muneim Odat, on Tuesday received US Ambassador to Jordan, Henry Wooster, for a discussion on a set issues of common interest between the two countries.
Odat said, "We in Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah, are looking forward to strengthening cooperation and partnership between the two countries, with the new US administration, and President Joe Biden," adding that he looks forward to continue coordination and consultations between the two countries at all levels.
On the Palestinian issue, Odat stressed the importance of pushing the peace process forward, adding that the region will not enjoy security and stability without a just and comprehensive solution that leads to the establishment of a Palestinian state with full sovereignty over its national soil with Jerusalem as its capital, and restoring the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
He said that Jordan is proceeding steadily with political reforms and reviewing all laws related to the development of parliamentary and party work, which will ultimately leads to involving all groups of society in the decision-making process.
He added that the Lower House of Parliament is keen on developing the work of parliamentary blocs and activate their role through clear programs, to contribute to forming programmatic parties in the future.
For his part, the US ambassador affirmed his country's keenness to enhance cooperation and coordination with Jordan, lauding the strength of the two countries' relations and their shared opinions and positions on many issues.
The US ambassador highlighted future aspects for cooperation between the two countries, stressing that his country appreciates the Jordanian role in the region and the ability of King Abdullah to achieve international prosperity and peace.
He added that the bilateral agreements between the two countries would achieve mutual interests, expressing his country's keenness to continue work and coordination with Jordan to overcome economic challenges imposed by the Coronavirus pandemic.
