Jordan records 8 Covid-19 fatalities, 1, 222 new cases on Friday

The Ministry of Health announced Friday it registered 8 deaths and 1,222 new cases of the coronavirus across the Kingdom, bringing the death toll to 4,362 and the infection tally to 332,990.

The new infections were: 746 in Amman, 163 Irbid, including 26 in Ramtha district, 133 in Balqa, 58 in Mafraq, 54 in Zarqa, 19 Madaba, 16 in Jerash, 13 in Tafila, 12 in Aqaba, 5 in Ajloun, and 3 in Karak, according to the daily brief by the ministry and the Prime Ministry.

It reported 10,072 currently active COVID-19 cases, 52 of which admitted to hospitals today, and 46 patients were discharged.

The daily report also showed that 21,311PCR tests were carried out today, bringing the total number of swab tests since the outbreak of the pandemic to 3,984,226, with a positivity rate today of about 5.73 per cent.

The Ministry called for adherence to defense orders and preventive measures, especially wearing masks and avoiding gatherings of more than 20 people, in addition to following the awareness campaigns that it launched in partnership with ministries and agencies to prevent the spread of the virus, and to sign up for vaccination.
