Jordan records 10 Covid-19 fatalities, 1, 294 new cases on Thursday

The Ministry of Health announced 10 Covid-19 fatalities and 1,394 new cases were recorded in the Kingdom on Thursday, bringing the death toll to 4,354 and the caseload to 331,768.


The new infections comprised 856 cases in the capital Amman, 176 in Irbid, including 9 in the northern border district of Ramtha, 62 in Zarqa, 50 in Balqa, 37 in Karak, 27 in Mafraq, 24 in Jerash, 22 in Aqaba, 17 in Madaba, 12 in Ajloun, 9 in Tafila, 2 in Ma'an, including 1 in southern region of Petra, according to the media statement issued by the Prime Ministry and the Ministry of Health.


The number of patients who were admitted to hospitals today stood at 58, while 39 cases have recovered and discharged, the statement added.


According to the brief, the cumulative number of recoveries recorded Thursday, whether at hospitals or home, stood at 730, bringing the total to 317,948 since the outbreak began.


Moreover, the number of patients still receiving treatment at hospitals has reached 418, including 51 on ventilators.


The statement also indicated that the number of confirmed and suspected cases on ICU beds has reached 115, or 13% of the total ICU bed capacity.


With regard to testing, 26,830 tests were conducted Thursday, 4.82 percent of which were positive, the statement noted.


Since last March, the total number of tests administered has increased to 3,962,915, the joint statement noted.
