Ammon News - The Environment Ministry on Wednesday discussed the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) system which is scheduled to be implemented in the Kingdom in cooperation with the German Federal Ministry for Environment and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).
In a statement on Thursday, the Ministry said that the discussion came during a virtual meeting chaired by the Ministry secretary general, Mohammed Khashna', with the participation of the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM), the Jordan Chamber of Industry, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), GIZ, and a number of local and international environmental consulting companies.
"The meeting also touched on the coordination mechanism between the EPR and the recycling project, currently being carried out by the USAID and the GAM, through launching awareness campaigns, providing infrastructure for sorting waste at source, preparing studies on household and commercial waste, as well as encouraging private sector to participate in waste management projects," the statement added.
