8 new virus deaths, 1,132 cases recorded

The Ministry of Health announced Tuesday it registered 8 deaths and 1,132 new cases of the coronavirus across the Kingdom, bringing the death toll to 4,334 and the infection tally to 329,194.

The new infections were: 692 in Amman, 153 Irbid, including 31 in Ramtha district, 69 in Balqa, 47 in Zarqa, 33 in Mafraq, 29 in Ajloun, 27 in Jerash, 23 in Karak, 20 in Aqaba, 20 in Madaba, 18 in Tafileh and 1 in Ma'an, according to the daily brief by the ministry and the Prime Ministry.

It reported 8,418 currently active COVID-19 cases, 58 of which admitted to hospitals today, and 40 patients were discharged.

The total number of confirmed cases being hospitalized was 404, while 346 isolation beds were used for confirmed and suspected cases yesterday, at an occupancy rate of 8%, and 120 patients were in the ICU, including 53 on ventilators.

It also said that 978 cases recovered today in home isolation and in hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries to 316,442.

The daily report also showed that 23,585 PCR tests were carried out today, bringing the total number of swab tests since the outbreak of the pandemic to 3,913,770, with a positivity rate today of about 4.8 per cent.

The Ministry called for adherence to defense orders and preventive measures, especially wearing masks and avoiding gatherings of more than 20 people, in addition to following the awareness campaigns that it launched in partnership with ministries and agencies to prevent the spread of the virus, and to sign up for vaccination.
