The Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line operating between Amman and Zarqa has reached a 53 per cent completion rate since December 31, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The project’s completion plan was set to extend for 18 months.

Secretary General of the Ministry of Transport Wisam Tahtamouni said that the value of implementing the project’s four stages reached JD124 million.

She stressed that the ministry seeks to begin the first phase of the national railway network project connecting the ports in Aqaba through the city of Maan, up to the proposed land port in the Madouneh area, south of Amman, the Jordan News Agency, Petra reported.

Tahtamouni pointed to the urban transport project in Irbid and Zarqa, which includes restructuring networks and rehabilitating infrastructure in the second half of 2020.

The ministry is keen on developing Amman Civil Airport, improving its facilities, and partnering with the private sector in construction, operation and transfer of ownership, similar to partnering with an investor and operator at Queen Alia International Airport, she added.
