Ammon News - The Lower House of Parliament on Sunday endorsed a partnership agreement between Jordan and the United Kingdom following the latter's exit from the European Union.
The agreement is designed to ensure continued Jordan-UK dealings in accordance with the Association Agreement signed by Jordan and the EU in 1997.
The agreement was necessitated by the Brexit and the lapse of the transitional period of international agreements signed between the EU and the UK at the beginning of this year.
Throughout the transitional period, Jordan had continued to treat the UK as if it was still a member of the European Union.
Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh said that the agreement came to fill a legislative gap in commercial and industrial relations and interests related to the rules of origin with the UK after its exit from the EU.
