Ammon News - Prime Minister, Bisher Khasawneh, issued on Wednesday Defense Order No. (25) of 2021 in accordance with provisions of Defense Law No.13 of 1992.
The Defense Order came as part of the government's role to review the procedures and measures taken during the implementation of the Defense Law to serve the public interest. It revoked and replaced Paragraph 2 of the second clause of Defense Order No. (11) of 2020 to stiffen penalties on workers and facilities, that do not implement anti-COVID measures.
Under the order, workers who fail observe measures including social distancing, wearing a face mask, and work protocols, procedures and preventive measures, as established by the Ministry of Labor and approved by the Ministry of Health, shall be fined an amount ranging between JD20 and JDD50.
Also, the defense order stipulated that if a private sector establishment, or its employees, violate the new clause, it shall be fined an amount ranging between JD500 and JD1,000, for first-time flouters, and an amount of more than JDD1,000 with a 7-day closure of the facility, for repeat offenders.
The government specified that the above-mentioned facilities include public ones, such as ministries, government departments, official and public institutions, and places where direct services are provided to the public, such as companies, institutions, establishments, malls, shopping centers, shops, medical clinics and health centers.
