Jordan records 9 COVID deaths, 943 infections on Tuesday

A total of 9 new deaths and 943 cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) was recorded in Jordan on Tuesday.

With today’s fatalities and infections, the caseload and death toll from the disease have increased to 322,241 and 4,248 respectively, since the outbreak began in March, according to a joint Prime Ministry and Ministry of Health daily brief.

Amman saw 574 new infections followed by Irbid 119, Balqa 66, Zarqa 47, Mafraq 37, Aqaba 25, Ajloun 23, Jerash 21, Madaba 14, Tafileh 11 and 6 cases in Karak.

The number of cases admitted and discharged from hospitals today stood at 65 and 31, respectively.

According to the brief, the total number of recoveries recorded Tuesday, whether at hospitals or at home, stood at 1,112, bringing the total to 310,005 since the outbreak began.
Additionally, the number of cases that are still at hospitals has reached 408, including 72 on ventilators.

Also, the number of confirmed and suspected cases on ICU beds has reached 139, or 16 percent of the total ICU bed capacity.

With regard to testing, 24,332 tests were conducted Tuesday, 3.8 percent of which were positive. The total number of tests conducted since March has increased to 3,759,470.
